Truck driver kills woman by tossing her from semi

ST. JOSEPH, MO (KCTV) - A Mississippi truck driver is accused of throwing a woman from his semi as he drove along a busy interstate. The Broward County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday arrested 49-year-old Kent Harris in Deerfield Beach, FL. Prosecutors in Missouri charged Harris with involuntary manslaughter. Harris, of Greenville, MS, was wanted in connection with the death of 46-year-old Kecia King, of St. Joseph, who was found severely injured on Interstate 29. King later died from massive traumatic injuries. A witness observed King leaving a bar with a heavy set balding black man, walking towards a tractor-trailer, according to a probable cause statement. Officers then contacted the trucking firm for whom Harris is employed and were able to track his vehicle location to the vicinity of the bar at the same approximate time in which King left the bar. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers found King about 11:30 pm Saturday near the 45-mile marker on Interstate 29 near Pickett Road in St. Joseph. Motorists called the Missouri Highway Patrol after spotting the woman lying beside the interstate. According to court records, the trucking firm's records confirmed Harris' vehicle was located at the 44-mile marker about 11:10 pm A preliminary autopsy report listed Kings' death as being from head trauma, resulting in swelling consistent with a fall from a moving vehicle. Troopers with the Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control in Florida are assisting with the ...
