The Martin County Jail is located in Stuart, Florida on 800 South East Monterey Road. The Main Jail Complex of the Martin County Jail was built in 1990. This facility has a maximum inmate occupancy of 456 inmates. The Martin County Jail falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections within the Martin County Sheriff's Department. The Director of Corrections is Major Casey Szparaga and the Secretary to the Director of Corrections is Sharon Schilb. Within the Department of Corrections there are the Jail Operations Division and the Jail Support Division. The Jail Operations Division is responsible for shift operations and training. Conversely, the Jail Support Division is responsible for the classification of inmates, maintaining the commissary, inmate records, special projects, food services, medical services, transportation, substance abuse programs, religious services and programs, inmate work programs, educational programs and services, procurement and law and reading library services.
