AUBURN — The booking procedure at the Androscoggin County Jail, including a mug shot, strip search and dressing in inmate scrubs — just got longer. A questionnaire that all new inmates must answer has been expanded to ask whether they have served in the military.

James N. DiMeo Jr., 48, was charged with assault, possession of deadly weapon, terroristic threats, obstruction and resisting arrest. Police said they believed DiMeo, who refused to come out of his house, was under the influence of narcotics.
