The central office is located on Jackson street in Topeka. Death penalty is still permitted in Kansas, however the last inmates who have been executed were George Ronald York and James Douglas Latham on June 1965, by hanging at Lansing correctional facility. They were both sujects in the book 'in Cold blood' of Truman Capote. No executed inmate were found innocent after being sentenced to death, even after the use of DNA scientific testes.
