The Terrebonne Parish Jail holds a total of over 600 inmates and it is headed by Major Mitch Dupre. The Terrebonne Parish Jail is a modern facility with top notch technologies in order to efficiently and effectively house the inmates while providing a safe and secure environment. In addition, there is an Annex Jail which is located on the third floor of the Courthouse Annex. This facility is used to house inmates that are utilized in a trustee capacity and to hold inmates awaiting trial.

The Terrebonne Parish Jail, in collaboration with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, have created and implemented a very strong and effective inmate work program that has been nationally recognized as one of the best in the nation. The work program utilizes inmates to help the community in the form of community service, performing activities such as cleaning local parks and highways, to painting community buildings and even helping clean the Intracoastal Tunnel.
