Candles - The Camp Scott Murders

www.candlesthemovie2011.com The 1977 Oklahoma Girl Scout murders: During the stormy, early morning hours of June 13th, 1977 at at Camp Scott, three young scouts, ages 8, 9, and 10, on their first night of summer camp, were brutally molested, bludgeoned and strangled to death. Their lifeless bodies were left near an intersection of two trails leading out of the unit in which they had been sleeping. There was a quick flurry of suspects who were investigated before the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation) and Mayes County Sheriff Pete Weaver became convinced that this triple homicide was the work of one man, Gene Leroy Hart. After a nearly one year long manhunt Hart was captured and tried. He was acquitted of the murders of the three young girls. Candles the Movie reveals a suspect who was curiously overlooked by law enforcement; a potential suspect with a history of murder and pedophilia, more in keeping with these crimes. Hart, the tried and acquitted suspect, simply did not fit the profile of person who committed these crimes.
